Class Money

Application: Illustrator

Project Brief:

Class money was an assignment I did in a graphic design class. We had to design a currency for the class that was not official but only used in the classroom. The final product had to be something that could be produced or replicated. The requirements were a minimum of one validating icon or image (DU logo, class number, etc.), an inspirational quote, an annotation of denomination, a serial # or some other form against forgery.

A CMYK color palette was chosen because that is what we use in graphic design. The dollar bills designs were inspired by Art Nouveau/Art Deco style. Real dollars have some intricate designs which is one reason why I was inspired by Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The back of the two and five dollar bill include the Lewis building at Dominican University since that where the class was located.

This set was exhibited in Dominican University’s Annual Juried Student Exhibition in 2025.
